Crossover Music Festival 2010 To Offer Camping,
American Idol Finalist at Central Missouri's Lake of the Ozarks

Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. – In addition to inspiring music, worship and fellowship, visitors to the 12th annual Crossover Music Festival 2010, June 10-12 at Central Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks, will enjoy affordable camping and fun activities, plus exciting live performances by “American Idol” finalists Mandisa and Phil Stacey.  Through a partnership with New Tribes Mission, primitive camping for tents will be available at the NTM campus on Highway 54 in Roach, Mo., just west of Camdenton, Mo., where the concerts will be offered at the Lake of the Ozarks Amphitheater (formerly the Stoneridge Amphitheater).  Crossover Music Festival 2010 tickets will be $11 per person per night at the gate (no advance or online sales).  Camping will be available starting at noon on Thursday, June 10.  The camping fee will be $10 per person, per day.  The one-time parking fee at the campground will be $5 per car.  The non-camper fee will be $5 per visitor per person, per day, for those who want to join in the daytime activities at the campground without staying overnight.  About 5,000 people are expected to attend the three-day event.

“The Lake of the Ozarks offers a wide array of lodging where Crossover Music Festival attendees can stay, from resorts to hotels and motels to vacation homes and condos plus full-service campgrounds.  However, over the years we had requests for basic tent camping and now we will be able to offer that, thanks to our partnership with the New Tribes Mission,” says Alan Sullivan, festival manager.  New Tribes Mission helps local churches train, coordinate and send missionaries to unreached people around the world.  “The New Tribes campground will have its own music, speakers and activities during the day, then everyone will head over to amphitheater for the Crossover Music Festival 2010 concerts,” Sullivan says.

The concerts will start at 4 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Friday.  Friday’s lineup will include the up-and-coming, Dove-nominated group Fireflight, performing songs from their recent CD, “For Those Who Wait.”  Finding Bethel, Tal & Acacia, Philmont, Grits and Inasense will lead up to headliners Sanctus Real.  This dynamic group won a Dove Award in 2005 for “Fight the Tide,” a Dove nomination in 2007 for the single “I’m Not Alright,” and a Grammy nomination in 2008 for “We Need Each Other.”  Its latest CD is “Pieces of a Real Heart.”

2006 American Idol top-5 finalists Phil Stacey and Mandisa will move the Crossover crowd on Saturday.  Stacey’s powerful voice and passionate approach fuel his debut CD “Into the Light.”  Headliner Mandisa will perform songs from her new CD, “Freedom.”  This unique artist has been named one of the most promising new talents in the Christian music industry.  Her Grammy-nominated 2007 debut, “True Beauty,” made her the best-selling debut artist in the history of Sparrow Records; it also became the only female debut album to hit No. 1 in the 27-year history of Billboard’s Christian Retail Chart.  “She puts on an awesome show, very high energy,” says music consultant Jim McDermott of Spirit FM Life Changing Radio.

Also on Saturday, Dove-award winners and Grammy-nominated Decemberadio will return with their unique and lively show.  “They are very fun to watch in person,” McDermott says.  Other Saturday performers will include Hearts of Saints, Live Fish, Lyndsey marks, Abandon and Wade Williams.  Artists and schedule are subject to change until the time of the show.

In addition to musicians, attendees will enjoy the words of inspirational speakers. Gracia Burnham will speak on Saturday night--she’s a missionary who, in 2001, was captured by militants and held hostage in the Philippines for more than one year; her husband Martin was killed in a gun battle.  On Friday, popular speaker Tina Marie Griffin will present “Hollywood Exposed,” a show about celebrity culture and the media’s harmful effects.

After each concert, fans can stop by the vendor pavilion to meet their favorite performers, get autographs and purchase CDs and merchandise.  Booths offering Christian-themed apparel, CDs, jewelry, gift items, Bibles, books and handcrafted keepsakes will be open throughout the festival.  Food and beverage concessions also will be available.

During the day, activities at the campground will include live music, fishing, property tours and wacky Olympics competitions.  Participants will read the Bible aloud day and night at the Scripture Tower.  Campers and visitors also will have the opportunity to participate in Wayumi! A Tribal Village Experience which will simulate a mission trip.  “Participants will go through a jungle, cross the water and meet up with tribal people who do not speak English,” Sullivan explains.  “There will be plenty of surprises and obstacles for them along the way, adding up to a truly memorable experience.”  Vendors and concessions will be available at the campground.

Sullivan notes, one of the best aspects of the Crossover Music Festival is its “team.”  He explains, “Our festival volunteers come from many churches and many denominations throughout the area, and our audience consists of many faiths.  At the Crossover Music Festival we drop all denominational labels that might divide us and we become unified for the weekend.  The result is a wonderful weekend of fun and worship.”  Adds Marketing Director Deborah Wolfe, “Individuals and groups can benefit from a weekend at Crossover. Camping is especially great for youth pastors to bond with their youth groups.  Campers are sure to return home physically, mentally and spiritually uplifted.”

Ticket prices will just one dollar higher this year than last year. “We realize times are tough for a lot of people right now,” Sullivan says.  “We have a lot of expenses but we don’t want anyone to not attend the Crossover Music Festival 2010 because of ticket prices.  And parking still will be just $5 per vehicle so fill up your car or van and come join us.”  He adds, “Although the Crossover Music Festival is a spiritual event, it also has been a great opportunity for people to come to the Lake of the Ozarks and enjoy everything the Lake area offers.”
